The house with the golden windows

The house with the golden windows The little girl lived in a small, very simple, poor house on a hill and as she grew she would play in the small garden and as she grew she was able to see over the garden fence and across the valley to a wonderful house high on the hill and this house had golden windows, so golden and shining that the little girl would dream of how magic it would be to grow up and live in a house with golden windows instead of an ordinary house like hers. And although she loved her parents and her family, she yearned to live in such a golden house and dreamed all day about how wonderful and exciting it must feel to live there. When she got to an age where she gained enough skill and sensibility to go outside her garden fence, she asked her mother is she could go for a bike ride outside the gate and down the lane. After pleading with her, her mother finally allowed her to go, insisting that she kept close to the house and didnt wander too far. The day was beautiful and the little girl knew exactly wher e she was heading! Down the lane and across the valley, she rode her bike until she got to the gate of the golden house across on the other hill. As she dismounted her bike and lent it against the gate post, she focused on the path that lead to the house and then on the house itself and was so disappointed as she realized all the windows were plain and rather dirty, reflecting nothing other than the sad neglect of the house that stood derelict. So sad she didnt go any further and turned, heart broken as she remounted her bike. As she glanced up she saw a sight to amaze her. There across the way on her side of the valley was a little house and its windows glistened golden as the sun shone on her little home. She realized that she had been living in her golden house and all the love and care she found there was what made her home the golden house. Everything she dreamed was right there in front of her nose!Author Unknown

Is Love Good or Evil Essay - 721 Words

Is Love Good or Evil? Love is an emotion we all experience in our lives. The feeling is amazing for most people and not so wonderful for others. As I searched for the word love in the dictionary, the definition explained it to be a strong affection and warm attachment for another person. I believe the word love has a more intense and deeper meaning than any dictionary is able to represent. It does little to define what love is beyond the eyes of the person who actually experiences it. A person that is familiar with the term learns the emotions and feelings that develops throughout the relationship. A dictionary definition is unable to explain the true meaning of love. This is why it is my duty to clarify what love†¦show more content†¦As a person who desires this romance, I could never see living my life without it. I have always wanted to be in love, and I constantly wished for it in return. I long to spend the rest of my life with somebody. As time passes by and I become older, I come to realize how in some cases a person who is in love is supposed to feel wonderful, but in the end just winds up being more lost and confused than she started out to be. I was caught up into the confusion myself. While in a relationship, I began being the person my boyfriend wanted me to be and hid the person that I really am. It resulted in more pain than it did in happiness. He seemed to be content with the situation, but was it because I did everything to make him happy or was he really in love? I was convinced I knew what love was. I felt the weak knees and the need to rush the relationship, but I was mistaken by the wrong feelings. It does not always bring pleasure and laughter into my life, but someday hope it will. Although my relationship caused a great amount of pain, in the end it worked out for the best. It seems the people we love hurt us the most, and we become miserable with them, yet at the same time, we are miserable without them. It is a continuous circle o f nothing but confusion. Confusion is not all we experience with this feeling. People claim to get interesting symptoms from being in love, or infatuation as I call it. Moral evil is brought about by bad choices that stem from our free will. Natural evil is bad things that happen to people, whether they deserve them or not. The problem with evil is, â€Å"Either we must say that God is not wholly good, and that he permits or is even the author of evil. These rankings depict the stability and progress of the Australian financial sector. The corporate and domestic customers enjoy the flexibility with which they are able to avail the financial services in the country. The banking sector of the country comprises of half of the financial sector of the country. Apart from banks, other institutions, such as â€Å"Authorized Deposit taking Institutions (ADI)†, also provide financial services (MCU, 2011). The total assets of the financial institutions in December 2010 stood at $ 2,524 billion, out of which $ 1,887 billion were attributable to the major banks and $ 76 billion to the credit unions and building societies operating in Australia (Donovan Gorajek, 2011; ABA, 2011). Beginning its operations back in the year 1984, MCU has successfully carried out its operations which are mostly community based. With 5,500 members (approx) the institution has managed to increase its total assets to above 60 million dollars (MCU, 2011). There is a wide range of services available to the customers of MCU. These services include on-call savings accounts, term deposits, lending services, insurance, financial planning service, free car search service and non-cash payment facilities which includes VISA debit cards, e-banking, electronic funds transfer, BPAY and other cheque facilities which are similar to those provided by the conventional banks. The area of operations of MCU includes Maleny and Sunshine Coast Hinterland (MCU, 2011). There are other financial institutions also where MCU operates, but the operations of MCU are distinguished from others as the institute invests back the amounts or deposits raised from the local community in light of the policies which are designed locally. This strategy helps MCU in making sure that the capital of the community is not moving out of the area of its operations. The operations and investment of MCU are comprised of: Giving loans at the community level with the objective of bringing sustainability in the environment; Donating or sponsoring public welfare projects through devoting up to 10 percent of the profit before taxation; Helping micro finance groups (MCU, 2011). Apart from the fact that MCU is a relatively small organization, it has a proactive approach towards working for sustainability in the environment through collaborating with other organizations. In honor of its services, the Sunshine Coast Environmental Council (SCEC) awarded MCU with the â€Å"Air Quality Award† in the year 2003 (MCU, 2011). The objective of this report is to present an analysis of the Maleny Credit Union Limited (MCU Ltd) which discusses the significance and effects of different internal and external factors. The analysis is carried out while using the strategic tools like SWOT Analysis, PESTLE Analysis and Porter’s Five Forces Model.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Financial Industry Analysis on MCU Sustainable Banking specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More SWOT Analysis Strengths Due to lower interest rates charged by MCU as compared to the rates charged by the banks on the loans given and becaus e of the higher rate of returns offered to those who invest their money with MCU, the company holds a better position in the market in terms of attracting further investment (CSR Credit Unions, 2011). Due to the deep penetration of MCU in the community where it operates, the union enjoys a stable progress. The fact that MCU hires majority of its staff members from the local community also gives an advantage to the union which banks are unable to grasp (MCU, 2011). MCU is famous for its service quality among the community. This customer satisfaction is a huge advantage for the company which further ensures the future progress of the union. The members or the depositors of MCU feel like being part of the organization as they are able to control the activities of the union and have right to vote during the election of the directors for the union. These rights strengthen the relationship between the company and its customers further (CSR Credit Unions, 2011). The offering of green loans and green products financing allows MCU to enjoy supremacy over its competitors (MCU, 2011). Weaknesses Although the existence of credit unions is based upon the very fact that they are to serve communities at large, but due to this limited operational base, MCU’s customers are not able to avail normal banking facilities out of their community areas. As for example, people feel inconvenience while maintain their accounts with union due to the non-availability of ATM Machines and Branches of MCU in other parts of the country (CSR Credit Unions, 2011).Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More MCU’s offered products are not very diversified as they are in the case of a banking company. The limited product options for the customers and potential customers may leave them unsatisfied. As for instance, the company does not offer long term commercial mortgage loans (MCU, 2011). A majority of the credit unions operating within the country lack the necessary resources with which they may offer a wide range of products and services to their customers. MCU also faces a shortage of resources due to the limited area of its operations (CSR Credit Unions, 2011). Opportunities Keeping in view the lower interest rates at which the credit unions offer loans as compared to those rates which are generally offered by the banking sector, MCU has an opportunity to expand its operations. Moreover, the profit rates offered by MCU are much higher than the conventional banks which also offer an opportunity for the MCU to invite more investors or depositors. Due to the community based opera tions of MCU, the institution can penetrate further within the community in which it operates and keeping in view the needs and preferences of the local people, it can diversify its services and the financial solutions offered. Threats The global economic crisis is the biggest threat to every business concern all over the world. Although Australian financial sector held up better than the financial sectors of other major economies, but still there are fears that the trails left by the economic crisis may affect the financial sector of the country (Hillier, 2010). The ever increasing intensity of the competition in the Australian financial system generally and in the credit unions particularly, is likely to affect the overall profitability of MCU. PEST Analysis Following is the PEST Analysis of the Australian Banking Sector: Political The political conditions are stable in Australia and are supportive for the financial sector. The positive role of the Government can be justified by considering the announcement of the Australian Government to remove the â€Å"Guarantee Scheme for Large Deposits and Wholesale Funding† from March 2010 which signified the government’s support for the financial sector (CSR Credit Unions, 2011). Economic Australian economy is a developed and modern economy. According to the estimates made in the year 2010, the GDP growth of the country is 2.7 percent. The rate of inflation recorded in the third quarter of the fiscal year 2010 was 2.8 percent. The unemployment rate in the country is 5.5 percent only. All these figures suggest vibrant economic conditions for the investors and the financial sector (CSR Credit Unions, 2011). Social Following good economic conditions of the country as a whole, the people living in Australia are financially stable and have higher purchasing power parity which is good and motivating for new investors. Moreover, people living in Australia are well educated and therefore it is suggested th at the companies operating in the financial sector shall make sure the provision of information related to their products and services being offered (CSR Credit Unions, 2011). Technological In terms of the quality of research institutions in the country, Australia ranks as the tenth highest country out of 133 countries. The ability of people living in Australia to adapt new technologies is fourth highest among 57 countries observed in this respect (Australian Government, 2010). These facts signify that the technological development in the country is not only promoted but also accepted by the people of Australia. Porter’s Five Forces Model Following is the analysis of the Australian Financial and Banking sector on the basis of Porter’s Five Forces Model: Threat of New Entrants Keeping in view the sound economic conditions in Australia and the opportunities in the banking sector, there is huge attraction for potential investors. As can be seen in case of credit union s, there are many opportunities for new entrants and along with these opportunities the new entrants have further options to start their businesses, i.e. to start as a conventional banking organization or opt for a non-banking organization startup (Australian Trade Commission, 2011; Argent, 2002). Bargaining Power of Buyers The bargaining power of buyers is however increasing and has a significant influence on the operations of the banks. Although costs for switching have decreased due to the efficient ways of doing business, but the fact that customers’ loyalties are difficult to be maintained have increased the bargaining power of buyers. Bargaining Power of Suppliers The bargaining power of suppliers is theoretically expected to be high in the Australian banking sector due to a finite number of market participants (Unnithan Swatma, 2001). However, the limitations enforced upon banks by the perceived bargaining powers of suppliers are overcome by the ability of the ban king organizations to operate through other means, such as internet banking and through financial intermediaries (Cronin, 1998; Kotler Armstrong, 1997). Substitutes The substitutes in the banking sector are readily available due to the diversity brought into the banking sector after inclusion of non-banking entities. Nowadays there are certain activities related to the banking sector which is carried out by non-banking entities, such as the issuance of credit cards and the sanctioning of loans and other facilities (Kent Debelle, 1999; Donovan Gorajek, 2011). Competition There are certain factors which have created a relatively new competitive environment for the banking sector. As for instance, the shift in consumers’ preferences over time, the effects of globalization, innovations and developments due to technological advancements and the inclusion of non-banking organizations in the financial sector are deemed to be the major causes for increasing competition in the industry (Australian Government, 2010). Conclusion Analyzing the Australian financial and banking sector by applying three major strategic tools, it is concluded that the economic conditions prevailing in the country are sound and supportive for the existing and potential investors and businessmen. The role of credit unions in the Australian communities has also been discussed while considering MCU Sustainable Banking, which shows that the potential for credit unions in Australia is huge apart from the lack of diversity in their services and limited areas of operation. Furthermore, the financial sector of the country is growing and remained stable during the global financial crisis. There is a healthy competitive environment prevailing in the banking sector and the Australian government is dedicated to promote it. Destination Branding and Tourism Marketing Essay

Destination Branding and Tourism Marketing - Essay Example All these organizations and firms work together to market their products in a particular region and to encourage people to visit it again. Even though the idea of branding has been used broadly to goods and services, tourism destination branding is a comparatively new phenomenon. In exacting, destination branding remains scarcely defined to a lot of practitioners in destination management organizations (DMOs) and is not sound signified in the tourism literature. Supported on an espousal of work by Aaker (1991), destination brand can be defined as: "A name, symbol, logo, work or other graphic that both identifies and differentiates the destination, furthermore, it conveys the promise of a memorable travel experience that is uniquely associated with the destination; it also serves to consolidate and reinforce the recollection of pleasurable memories of the destination experience. (Ritchie and Ritchie, 1998, p. 103) The first part of this definition talks about the uniqueness and commonness of the destination which may attract the tourists, however, the second part is emphasizing on the availability of entertainment and products for the travelers which may assure them a wonderful and memorable journey. The definition gives the idea of product and service brand, for instance, product as handicrafts, in which the people of a particular place are skilled and services as massage and hotels. After determining the position of the destination in the marketplace and the development has been made by providing a distinctive brand identity to distinguish it from competitors (Morgan et al., 2002), the senior policy makers and the management staff of the destination must make certain that they implement all the promises made about the destination must are being translated. Destination branding is advantageous to attract more and more visitors. It directs the managers of the destination to provide advanced facilities to the visitors as they are becoming more and more perceptive, educated and technology addicted. Destination branding encourages the customer not just to visit the place again and again but also to inform others about the latest facilities and advancements in that particular area. The marketing of a place and the facilities provided there draws the attention of tourists towards it. The location of the spot and the availability of proper transport, food and shelter are the important factors which need to bring in notice of the tourists. The tourism marketing provides a report of the overall structure of the spot. The marketing must not focus on a particular community but it must provide a complete and perfect view for people belonging to different cultures and tradition. Tourism marketing plan, if arranged properly, works fast and firm to increase the profits and also provides new ways towards the development of that area. Symbiotic Relationship Between On and Offline Marketing With the development of technology and advancement of every field, the means of marketing have also changed. The offline marketing is indeed a good way to introduce a new product or service, but, it is costly as compared to online marketing plans. The online marketing is economic but not very profitable as it provides a number of options to the consumer or customer, whereas, the offline marketi

That he or she not able to show their skills and at different level they will gain the experiences from there senior which help them a lot . We can follow step which ensure the communication of the knowledge to each individual. There following steps. 1 gathering of the data- main function is the gathering the data from various resources. It can be follow from top to bottom or reverse of that. Induction program, training are main ways. GROUP DYNAMICS: Group dynamics is relevantly new studies in the field of management. The ways group interact in the organization directly affect their work. These group can be formulate from regions believe, sociology believes. T his is very important for a company to understand that why these groups formulate and how they work. By knowing that a company can encourage those people to work more affective and give better rumination. If there good communications in those groups management can take the advantage the situation and communicate to the top leader the message follow through the group with any objections. If there is any conflict between the organization and the group, these can be easily shorted out. No doubt group can be complicates as well, but if they are managed well they can be very helpful. There should be popper level of communication and it must be in popper flow from top to bottom. It must be in popper channel goes to each and every one. It can be done written from or verbal from it must go in different levels and till reaching the bottom level it must remain same it would not be change and it must be clear that each and every can understand easily. If employee wants to meet his manager he must tell his supervisor and then he can meet. If supervisor did not listen the them then they can go directly go to manger and meet. There should be management by walking around because if anybody have problem they can directly tell the manager. By regular meeting can improve the better level of communication and improve the skills of the organization and every remain touch with each other and can improve organization with meeting we can make control on the organization. meeting also solve the conflicts and problem which may cause by the miss understanding within each other meeting help a lot to solve this type of problem. Phone is another way of communication identify the all stakeholder- first before anything identify all the main stakeholder like customers, suppliers, local communities Priorities the stakeholder- we have to make sure the company invite all the main effective persons. Not only those people who can make loud demands. Identify communication requirement for each stakeholder groups- If is there any requirement by the local government and local trust should be considered PLAN AND PROBLEM: any decision taken by the trust or government should be implemented by the management and it not be only in the papers and it should me take serious and management must be make it sure and it must be done at all the levels and it must be done by every man the organization .because stake holder are the main part of the company because they have invest the money in that company. And they look for good out come of there money and company also support them. Throughout the 1900†³s, the typical Australian family has had some dramatic changes. In fact, you could go as far as to say that, today, there is no typical family. The family has adapted so much to the public†s change in attitude towards families, or perhaps the public has adapted so much to the change in families, it is now virtually impossible to identify one family type as predominant. It is no longer unusual for there to be as many step families, single parent families, De Facto relationships, etcetera as there is. Also the number of children in families has decreased, with some families even deciding not to have children. So, what has influenced these changes in society? Some occurrences through-out the 20th century that are identified as influences on society are the two World wars, the Depression, and the Women†s Liberation Movement. All of these had a major impact on society, changing everyone†s opinions, attitudes, and overall views on life. The Nuclear family, previously the typical Australian family has slowly become less common, and even though, if there was still a typical family, this would probably still be it, this obvious decline in numbers is a great sign of the changes being discussed, and possibly a sign of what is to happen in the future. Maybe, in the 21st century, it will be more common to be in a step or single parent family, than a nuclear family. Something that has had an effect on these changes in society, is that of education. For approximately the first half of the century, not many people actually made it through school. It was common for children to leave school early, as it could not be afforded and so they would get a job, and help support the family. However, the number of people deciding to stay in school, or at least receive a proper education, has kept increasing through-out the 2nd half of the century. Due to this, young people are dependant on their parents for longer periods of time, as â€Å"unemployment,†¦ and lack of affordable housing.. † (Getley, A. , 1996, 132) makes it harder for them while receiving an education. As already mentioned, family sizes have decreased. Between 1900 and 1913 the average was 3-4, but today it is 2-3. The main causes of this being the introduction of many new contraceptive devices, and the Women†s liberation movement. Both of these worked together, as many women wanting to have a career before marrying, or having children, use contraception as a way of controlling when they have children, and how many they have. Earlier in the century such advanced forms of contraception that are available today, were not available then. Also, more women are deciding that they do not want any children. It is predicted that 20 per cent of women born in the late 1960s will be childless. † (Getley, A. , 1996, 124). In fact, the Women†s liberation movement has had one of the biggest impacts on the family. With the acceptance of women working, even when married, around the 1960†³s, families economic status has improved greatly. â€Å"Single women made up to 20 per cent of the work force in 1901 but once they got married had to give up their jobs†(Gunstone, et. al. , 1992,). Also women were paid approximately half the amount males were, whereas, today there is a greater number of women employed, than men, with reasonably equal wages. It is now common for both parents to work, where the reason for women leaving the work force after marriage, previously, was to do the housework, and look after the children. Due to this, I think it is fair to say that the majority of Australian families are financially comfortable. Also, welfare assistance was introduced around 1908, and has kept improving since, with more provided for a larger variety of people in need. This is one factor in the increase of divorce, and single parent families. Previously, many women would have been scared to get a divorce, as they had had little or no experience in the work force, and virtually no means of income, and many single mothers would give their child up for adoption, as they had no way of supporting it, and it was also considered socially unacceptable. But with the introduction, and improvement of welfare for the unemployed, and single parents, a lot more people were able to manage on their own. Single mothers could afford to keep their children, and women were able to divorce their husband, confident that they would be all right financially, until able to find a job. As a result, divorce rates started to climb, and society began to accept divorce. A factor contributing to women joining the work force is the technological improvements over the years. Between 1919 and 1928, electricity saw the introduction of such † labour saving appliances such as electric irons, refrigerators, electric stoves, vacuum cleaners, heaters and electric washing machines. † (Gunstone, et. al. , 1992,). These cut the time taken to do housework dramatically, and with the introduction of more and more appliances that are even more efficient, women are left with time to handle a paid job, as well as doing most of the housework. Also, since the women†s liberation movement, that started in 1969, household chores have been shared around a lot more. However, some of these technological advancements have caused people to lose their jobs, as a machine can take over their position. The two world wars have had quite a large impact on families as well. During the wars, women took over the jobs of the men who had gone to fight for their country, but when the wars were over, many employers were not willing to let their female employers go, as they were cheaper, and often more willing to work. Also after the wars, especially after the second world war, industry was short of workers, so immigration was encouraged by the government, and † Between 1947 to 1969 two million immigrants arrived bringing with them new cultures, dress, language, habits, and extended families. † (Gunstone et. al. , 1991,). This was another great influence on Australian families, as it brought many different types of families, probably the dominant one being the extended family. Also, these new cultures and religions have helped make the multi cultural family that is quite predominant, and accepted in Australia.

Netflix Case Essay

In the late 1990s, with the booming in number of Internet users (dot-com boom), investors was encouraged to invest in Internet to get in on the very profitable market that was available at that time. Netflix was one of the first Internet companies, which took that advantage by getting into Internet video market. By the late 2000s, home video rental business (Blockbuster, Hollywood video, etc.) took place in the market, however it didn’t take too long for Netflix to beat that market and in mid 2009 increase its stock prices to $39 when its best competitor Blockbuster’s was less than $1. Although Netflix was taking power over the video industry, companies such as Apple, Amazon studios and Hulu began to threat Netflix’s share in the market but Netflix could respond to those threats by investing in research and development and bring up new models such as video on demand model. Today Netflix is world’s leading Internet TV and movie provider and has over 40 million members in most developed countries. Netflix is still working hard to meet unending challenges while controlling its core business and it is not very easy to manage an organization as Netflix since there are always issues and problems due to competitors’ challenges in this competitive industry but it is possible for Netflix to manage these competitions by doing research and development to come up with new models and trends. The video industry started in the 1970s in the United States and it was mostly focused on VCR technology. With the decrease in movie theatres, the industry concerned about loosing the control over selling their movies and was looking a better way to extend the distribution network, which was only by movie theatre at that time. By the 1990s, they came up with the idea home rental videos since they saw the opportunity of video rental business which could not only be an alternative of going to movie theatre, but also great chance of selling or renting the movies that performed bad in movie theatres. The market has changed in 2000s when DVD technologies, which had special features such as, extra scenes and extended versions took place in the market until 2010 when the Blu-ray came up since there was a demand for viewing of high definition movies but it didn’t take place very well in the market and then DVD maintained its position again. However, there was a change in buyer behavior as Internet technologies have improved. Buyers started not to go to video rental store just like they didn’t want to go to a computer store to buy a computer. Internet sales took control over almost every industry. Even grocery shopping could be done online. Hence, digital distribution of TV shows and movies via Internet streaming wasn’t a big surprise for the industry. Since all these was threatening physical video rental business, Netflix offered its customers to watch a movie immediately when purchased without worrying about turning it back or even late fees. The organization turned into a win-win situation because of the fact it included customers, producers, TV and cable providers, distributers, movie theatres and even video stores into its value chain.
